The CD45 transmembrane tyrosine phosphatase is a known regulator of cell activation associated with the T cell receptor and B cell receptor. However, new roles for CD45 are emerging, including a putative role as a receptor for Galectin-3 (gal-3), as well as a correlation between CD45 expression and Epithelial to Mesenchymal Transition (EMT). CD45 has also recently been suggested to act as a tumor suppressor. Inhibition of CD45 phosphatase activity is being investigated to target CD45 phosphatase activity where it has been implicated in autoimmunity, infectious disease, and in vitro models of leukemia and lymphoma.
Tonbo Biosciences offers a suite of established clones that are widely used for flow cytometric identification of CD45 isoforms and their cell-specific expression on human and mouse cell types.
